Support Programs

Support Programs
We provide in-person and virtual support those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
Michael’s Place offers in-person and virtual grief support programs designed to ease the complex emotions experienced after the loss of a loved one. Grieving children, teens, and adults often feel disconnected from friends and family members, and the use of a support system with others who understand can help them on their journey of healing. It is often easier to discuss loss with others who are having similar experiences.
Getting Started
So that Michael’s Place may learn more about your needs, please contact the staff at (231) 947-6453 or via email at GoodGrief@MyMichaelsPlace.net to schedule an informational visit. At that time, you will meet with a staff member to learn about our programs and services, hear your story, discuss any concerns, or answer any questions you may have.
Important
It’s important to note that Michael’s Place is not a crisis center. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in need of immediate emotional support or are experiencing thoughts of suicide, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
If you are a school or business in need of support, please contact us at 231.947.6453 or goodgrief@mymichaelsplace.net. All inquiries will responded to as soon as possible during the business hours of M-TH, 9:00am-4:00pm, unless other arrangements have been made.

Together, we find HOPE.
We offer support opportunities that range from discussion-focused peer support groups to events and activities that are creative and educational. Each program is designed to elicit feelings of comfort, safety, and hope for those we serve. Children and teens can engage in activity-based support groups and monthly ‘best-day’ events. A variety of adult support groups and workshops are available.
We also offer specialized programs for schools, businesses and other organizations.
Workshops, Activities and Other Events
In addition to our support programs, Michael’s Place offers a variety of workshops, events and activities for both children and adults throughout the calendar year.
Michael’s Place is looking for volunteers to help facilitate peer support groups. Our support group facilitators provide a safe, caring environment for children and adults grieving the death of a loved one. If you want to make a difference in the lives of those grieving in our community, we’d love to meet you! Contact us at 231.947.6453 or volunteer@mymichaelsplace.net.
Michael's Place Hosts GriefShare in Partnership with East Bay Calvary Church. We will offer two options for this 13-week series. Click on the event page for more information.
