Getting Started

We ask that you attend an initial informational session prior to coming to your first support group meeting. This meeting will help you understand more about Michael’s Place and how our groups work. It also helps Michael’s Place learn how to best support you. Please call us at (231) 947-6453 or email us at GoodGrief@MyMichaelsPlace.net with any questions.

Bereaved Adult Support Group

Support group for adults grieving the death of a loved one. Open to any loss.

Twice Monthly on Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm. 

Bereaved Parent's Group

Support group for parents who are grieving the loss of a child.

Twice Monthly, Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm.

 

 

Bereaved Spouse Group

Support group for adults who are grieving the loss of a spouse or partner.

Two Options Available:
Twice Monthly, Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm and Twice Monthly, Tuesdays, 9:30 – 10:30 am.

 

 

Faith-Based Grief Support Group

 Grief support with a Christian foundation but all faiths are welcome.

Twice Monthly on Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm. 

Infant & Pregnancy Loss Group

Support group for adults grieving a miscarriage, stillbirth, infant or toddler death. This group will be hosted in a hybrid format, with both an online and in-person option to attend.

4th Monday of Each Month, 12:00 – 1:00pm

Sudden Loss Support Group

Grief support for adults who have experienced a loved one’s death from suicide, overdose, or accident

Twice Monthly on Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm. 

Women's Support Group

Peer-facilitated grief support for women who have experienced a death.

Twice Monthly on Wednesdays, 10:30-11:45am.

Men's Gathering

Join us for coffee, conversation, and fellowship. This is not a formal support group but an opportunity to gather with others who are grieving in a relaxed atmosphere.

2nd & 4th Thursdays, 10:30-11:30am.

Zoom Support Group for Adults

Virtual Grief Support Group for those grieving a death. This group opportunity offers a safe space to connect with others and gain support from the comfort of your home.

Monthly on Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm.

Coffee and Conversation

If you are looking for an opportunity to connect with other grieving adults in a relaxed, conversational atmosphere, join us for Coffee & Conversation. This is not a formal support group but an opportunity to gather and share time getting to know each other in a supportive place.

Twice Monthly on Wednesdays, 9:45-10:30am.

Hands-On Healing

Hands-On Healing is a monthly program that offers a “hands-on” approach, using art and other creative mediums to express grief and connect with others. If you are interested in joining one of the sessions, contact goodgrief@mymichaelsplace.net or (231) 947-6453 to reserve your space. 

Second Wednesday each month, 10:00am-12:00pm

Mindfulness & Grief

In this program, we will provide empathetic guidance and introduce mindfulness-based exercises as we explore various aspects of grief.

Second Tuesday each month, 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

GriefShare

National grief support program offered at Michael’s Place in partnership with East Bay Calvary Church.

Important

  • It’s important to note that Michael’s Place is not a crisis center. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in need of immediate emotional support or are experiencing thoughts of suicide, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

  • Michael’s Place is open M-Th, 9:00 am-4:00 pm, with extended evening and weekend hours for programming.

  • Michael’s Place follows the TCAPS inclement weather policy, and all programming is canceled on snow days.

  • Michael’s Place observes major holidays and is closed the week of TCAPS spring break, the week of Cherry Festival and the week of Christmas-New Year’s.
